What is Cold Laser Photo Bio-Stimulation?

Our Cold Laser technology supplies energy to the body in the form of infrared light. Photo-Bio Stimulation is the supply of non-thermal photons of light to the face.  It is a scientific fact that light transmitted to the blood in this way increases ATP in the mitochondria which brings the cells back to their original state of Health with positive effects throughout the entire body, supplying vital oxygen and energy to every cell.

Our exclusive cold laser is safe and FDA approved. The effects are to:

  • Stimulate and increase collagen production and skin elasticity

  • Increase cell metabolism and turnove

  • Oxygenate the blood and balance pH

  • Reduce bacteria and heal acne wounds on skin

  • Provides an anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect

The results heal and repair the tissue leaving a greatly improved appearance, tone, and texture of skin!

A safe, non-surgical, resurfacing treatment with a diamond tip and filter to exfoliate dead skin cells and promote new cell growth. Will improve fine lines, age spots, acne scars, pigmentation, oily skin, tough skin and blemishes.

What is Microdermabrasion?

Background

Microdermabrasion is one of the newer “skin rejuvenating” techniques to help improve the texture and appearance of the skin. It will revitalize the skin and aid in the regeneration of the epidermal cell structure with collagen stimulation. It is an increasingly popular, progressive, non-invasive skin treatment for a variety of different conditions. It is a quick, safe, effective form of exfoliation for all skin types, with no downtime, pain or discomfort. It has been available in Europe since the late 1980’s. A diamond-tipped applicator/wand is used, with a slight suction to remove dry, dead or damaged skin cells. Skin will appear softer, smoother, brighter, clearer, fresher and younger looking. Microdermabrasion is NOT the same as dermabrasion. Dermabrasion is an aggressive procedure, whereas microdermabrasion is a gentler and progressive treatment. Microdermabrasion is one of the categories of treatments such as botulinum toxin (Botox®), dermal fillers and superficial chemical peels where the treatment session is short, with few side effects and virtually no time off work.

Why Microdermabrasion?

Approximately every 28 days we create a new layer of skin. As new cells form, they push their way to the surface and then dead cells settle on the surface. This can cause enlarged, cloggy pores, an uneven texture and a dull appearance. As we age this process slows down, leading to the appearance of older skin with less radiance. Microdermabrasion treatment is most commonly used to treat the following skin conditions:

  • Acne

  • Acne scars

  • Age spots

  • Stretch marks

  • Fine lines & wrinkles

  • Sun damaged skin (hyper pigmentation)

  • Uneven skin texture

  • Rough skin texture

  • Minimizing skin pore size

  • Rejuvenating skin tone

Advantages

Probably the single biggest advantage that Microdermabrasion has over alternative skin treatments is that a Microdermabrasion patient can return to normal daily activities after receiving the treatment. Many other skin treatments used for the same skin conditions involve post-treatment swelling and require days off work. This makes Microdermabrasion an ideal treatment for people wanting improved skin without disrupting their daily life over it. Microdermabrasion doesn’t hurt thus, no need for anesthetics. It is safe with no risks or side effects. Compared to other treatments, Microdermabrasion is a very affordable and convenient.

Side Effects

The most common side effects of Microdermabrasion can in many cases be avoided provided the right post treatment steps are followed. These include:

  • Avoiding direct sunlight

  • Using moisturizer

After Microdermabrasion the skin is particularly sensitive so exposure to sunlight can often result in skin irritation and increased redness. Using a moisturizing cream after Microdermabrasion also decreases the risk of skin dryness and flaking caused by the abrasive effect on the skin.

Unsuitable candidates for Microdermabrasion:

There are some cases in which Microdermabrasion should not be performed because the potential for side effects is too great. These include:

  • Active acne and breakouts

  • Active herpes sufferers

  • Malignant tumor sufferers

  • Keratosis

  • People using Retin A or Accutane / Isotretinoin (Stop use 2-3 days before and do not restart until 2-3 days after a treatment.)

  • Rosacea, Dermatitis, Skin cancers, Easy bruising

  • Hepatitis, Aids

  • When on Blood thinners medication

  • Accutane

  • Eczema

  • Warts

  • No Botox or Laser hair removal 24 hours before or after

  • No Electrolysis, waxing, depilatories, Glycolic or Lactic Treatments or Dermabrasion 1 week before or after.

In all of these cases Microdermabrasion is likely to result in complications. Pregnant and nursing mothers have fluctuating hormonal levels which will hinder the skin regeneration process.

Packages

The number of Microdermabrasion treatments you’ll need depends on the extent of your treatment. Your aesthetician will discuss and advice the treatment and maintenance program. It’s important to leave about 7-10 days between treatments or more if possible. This gives your skin time to heal and grow a fresh layer in between treatments. This treatment is meant to be progressive not aggressive. Generally results are more noticeable after the third treatment. After the first session the skin will appear fresher, cleaner, smoother and softer for some clients.Usually treatments are performed every 2-3 weeks, but can be done more frequently. A typical course of treatment is a series of 6 Microdermabrasion sessions. Maintenance treatments are suggested once every one to one and a half months

What to expect

Diamond Tip Microdermabrasion is the newest advancement in crystal-free skin resurfacing. Through the use of a diamond-embedded hand piece, our microdermabrasion technology helps to diminish the appearance of sun damage, fine lines and wrinkles and allows for optimal results with minimal discomfort. The tip passes over the skin's surface, and creates a gentle vacuum.  The diamond tip gently exfoliates approximately 20-25 microns of dead skin cells of the outermost layer (stratum corneum). Once removed, it reveals one’s own fresher, younger looking skin beneath. The skin is cleaned prior to treatment, and you will be provided eye shields to protect your eyes as the diamond-embedded hand piece of the Microdermabrasion machine is passed over the skin in smooth, stroking movements. After the microdermabrasion is completed, a soft, damp cloth is used to remove any residue of skin cells. A soothing or calming mask is then applied onto the skin to help calm any redness and to hydrate the skin. The treatment will be completed with a moisturizer and sun block application. Your aesthetician will recommend specific skin care products to take care of your skin after the treatment.Other important points for the first 3 days:

  • You may apply makeup after your treatment; however it’s advised to wait 3-4 hours if at all possible

  • Avoid abrasive sponges and brushes for 48 hours after your treatment.

  • Avoid sun exposure.

  • Do not pick, peel, scrape, scratch or wax your skin for at least 48hours after your treatment.

  • If your skin is dry use moisturizer as many times a day as you like.

  • Do not exercise for 24 hours after a treatment. Perspiration will produce a stinging sensation on newly treated skin which can take several hours to dissipate.

The skin may feel tight as if exposed to the sun or wind for a day or two after treatment. Keep skin well moisturized, use sunscreen SPF 40 or higher and avoid direct sun for 48 hours. Please do not hesitate to call us, should you have any questions or concerns.
